Historian Jen
@historianjenfl.bsky.social
Southern historian and political scientist. I mostly post about politics on here and sometimes complain about Orlando traffic.
I don’t know much about the process but as a reader I will read only work written by humans, no AI slop. Whatever infrastructure it needs for that to be the result, I support it.

They have a law school. Imagine trying to take a class in law school, or even in undergrad, where you can’t use the word “challenging.”

Ironically Casablanca is one of the first movies I watched when Netflix started streaming. It was the only movie they had that I recognized.

There’s someone else on there that looks up the people who say racist things then posts their mugshots lol

We can tell you don’t have kids. You prefer to date them.

This response gives me the ick too. You should probably be in a database somewhere.

Whenever I read the garbage he has to say, I think it's not the worst thing if we do go extinct.

Rich people and politicians are obsessed with one thing and it's their own legacy. They're surrounded by people who tell them they're wonderful and respected and loved by everyone. Getting them to understand that their legacy is shit is a way to get them to change their behavior.

"We got shellacked in the last election." Ok well take the position of trickle down economics or whatever this is and you'll be saying "Please sir, may I please have another." Americans overwhelmingly agree on one issue and it's the mega rich should pay more than teachers in taxes.

It's a fucking weird stance to take given the polling we have for bipartisan support of taxing the ultra wealthy. (There is a Bloomberg article that is more recent but I didn't want to post something behind a paywall).
Americans Support Raising Taxes on the Wealthy and Big Corporations
Polling data on Americans' support for raising taxes on the wealthy, and which party has more trust to make the tax system more fair.

But we can do those things while upholding civil rights and taxing billionaires. This isn't even being a moderate candidate. It's pandering to what he thinks is a typical moderate voter.

Listen, I know we need money which is why I think it's goofy to make a show of turning down corporate donations. And I'm of the same belief as Beshear where we should spend 80% of time speaking to issues that impact 100% of people.

At the end of the day, the thing CEOs don't understand but ESPECIALLY tech CEOs is that humans (generally with exceptions) desire personal contact with one another and with the world.

I felt disconnected from my body and it was jarring. I felt like a cat who sees itself in the mirror but its senses say it isn't real. There are good uses for it, I can see the military using it for training and whatnot. But for every day people to sit in business meetings as their avatar? LOL no.

Metaverse isn't even the only AR platform to fail. And we can delve into a discussion about computing power, addiction, and safety. But at the end of the day, it seems that people just don't want it. I've had the opportunity to use it and didn't like it.

I mean, yes. Most people don't even know who the vice president even is most of the time. Their literal job is to fade into the background. They have ALL discussed this at length in their memoirs.
