When people say 'politics is too divisive now,' what they really mean is 'I was more comfortable when certain groups suffered quietly.'

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Among cancellations with election data available, 92.9% and 86.1% cancelled grants and contracts went to Harris counties, representing 96.6% and 92.4% of total dollar amounts.

At this point we can’t see universities as cowardly - they’re complicit and they want this to happen.

Act accordingly.

The distance between a legal resident who's not a citizen being deported without due process and a citizen being deported without due process is a hell of a lot shorter than many folks seem to believe, and when it does happen to a citizen, just remember it started here and who was quiet in response.

Musk is an absolutely depraved and evil man. Defending Stalin, Hitler, and Mao in order to justify firing VA nurses and park rangers? How does one come to hate civil servants so much? Insane, and dangerous.

Ten years ago if you had written a dystopian SF story in which the person in charge of U.S. public health did a press event at a fast food joint to say that fried food is good but measles vaccines cause measles the ghost of Philip K. Dick would have said that you were being too bleak and unrealistic
RFK Jr on the measles vaccine: "There are adverse events from the vaccine. It does cause deaths every year. It causes all the illnesses that measles itself cause."

I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?

Idk how @schumer.senate.gov can take himself seriously as a *representative* (and party leader) while not allowing voicemails to be left on his office lines. It’s cowardly and dismissive of his constituents’ voices.

I have a morning playlist and three podcasts that I intersperse in the queue. This morning, the poem read on The Slowdown @slowdownshow.org was accented by “A is for airplane!” and “C is for cow!” from my son’s interactive alphabet book. There’s some motherhood poetry in that somewhere.
