Someone's take along the lines of "in order to be indie it has to sound like it was recorded in a bedroom at best" has haunted me for years. There's absolutely no reason that independent creators can't make super polished work.

An 'indie' show is a show that is made without a big studio or corporation backing it. Yes this includes The Magnus Archives and Old Gods of Appalachia. Being successful does not stop a show being independent.

If you've got a few hundred bucks and some DIY skills, Rockwool panels are generally the go to recommendation. On short notice a fort of the heaviest blankets you own will work, though it's often less than ideal.
