I do not want to focus criticism on the reporter for this article -- by all means it is a good piece of criminal justice reporting on a terrible murder. But it should not escape notice that the NYT as an organization is now covering the ramifications of a moral panic it catalyzed

Black business owners need to be pushing for customers to shop w/ them directly or w/ other retailers. Especially these bigger names… like if you’re mass producing, it’s so lazy and tone deaf to me to be pushing consumers to shop at Target so you can still make money and ignoring the issue at hand.
