I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

The “fake Christian” framing is itself a marketing tactic: it allows Christians to simultaneously make those harmed by Christianity and/or Christians to feel heard and to dismiss them, so there need be no pause in selling.

Which is why progressive Christians’ reflex to shut down criticism (“Christians who do bad things are FAKE Christians”) rather than ask whether there are serious issues within Christianity to address is both so frustrating and so sadly unsurprising.

It’s not impossible for Christians to focus on substance over image, but when a central commandment of your ideology is expansion (+ infinite forgiveness), the main structural incentive to fix what’s going wrong is when what’s going wrong gets you enough bad press.
