It really is just simple geometry.

You cannot build a functional city if everyone brings a 2-ton living room on wheels with them.
The entrance to the 3-storey bike parking garage at Utrecht Central holding 12,500 bicycles. It’s free for the first 24 hours, linked to the station, and used by tens of thousands every day. This is what happens when a country treats bikes as real transport infrastructure, not an afterthought.

Nearly half of America’s children—48.9%—now grow up in families considered poor, according to Oxfam’s 2025 inequality report. It’s a statistic that should shake the nation to its core: in the wealthiest country in human history, almost one in two kids are struggling to meet basic needs.

PDX has a generational opportunity to rebuild NE 82nd into a delightful street that supports people walking, taking the bus, biking, driving, making deliveries, gathering outside.

So far the designs we're seeing aren't rising to this opportunity.

Really hope you can help @senkhanhpham.bsky.social!
Horrified to learn of another serious traffic crash on 82nd Avenue.

Policymakers are about to make major decisions about how to reshape this critical main street. I'm committed to working with my colleagues to ensure 82nd is safer for everyone biking, walking and driving.

This is good, but when people talk about this I want to emphasize: we have not run out of money for SNAP. The money is there, it has been allotted and saved specifically for this instance. Trump refuses to release the billions of dollars that Americans have already allotted to continue food stamps!
In the 60-year history of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, it’s never run out of money. Here are the states suing the federal government over it.

It’s not just that we’re spending too much money on any particular project.

It’s that we could be getting *much more transit* for the *same amount of money we’re currently spending*.
