BikeLoud is a nonprofit full of people trying to help Portland be a city where one quarter of all our trips are done on bicycles. Bikes are an equitable affordable solution for our climate emergency. When we ride bikes, we feel better! bikeloudpdx.org

Why do we bike?

Climate, affordability, sociability, peace on earth.

(Remember, even most e-cars are built with and rely on fossil fuel energy)

How can we improve? Is our system still too focused on car capacity?

Joe Broach from Oregon Metro at TREC: Survey shows people who bike for everyday trips in PDX hasn't increased since 2011.

We're in a climate emergency, our DOTs are out of $, we need affordable transportation. People have to bike.

We need accountability from engineers, police, courts, each other.

Not this:
𝙈𝙨. 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 & 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣'𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙙. 𝙄 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡
In our screwed up country all you have to do is say "oops I'm sorry" after running a red light and hitting a bike rider with your car (and sending them to hospital w a broken ankle) and the police won't even give you a ticket. I'm fuming!!

This is how pro-driver bias influences PPB.

Household travel surveys are the gold standard for understanding our daily travel. Oregon hasn't had a new survey for over 10 years...until now!

This Friday at Portland State, Joe Broach of Metro will take us through the latest Oregon Travel Survey (OTS):

Welcome to the War On Roads, Oregon neighbors!
opb.org OPB @opb.org · 6d
Umatilla County could become the next rural government to allow all-terrain vehicles on public roads, as its Board of Commissioners considered a proposal that would open up dozens of county roads to ATVs at a Tuesday meeting.
Umatilla could join Oregon counties opening up roads to ATVs
Under a recent proposal, all-terrain vehicles could only drive on designated two-lane gravel roads with a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour. All of those roads exist on the east side of the county.
