There's about 300-400 power pop albums you can call masterworks and not be wrong, but Pezband's 1977 debut is one of the few that ranks high on everyone's list. "Baby It's Cold Outside" may be the one everyone knows, but "Baby It's Cold Outside" is the one everyone should. A masterwork! #Rocktober

For a brief time "Gettysburg" was in constant rotation on a lot of local rock stations... and then it wasn't. Not sure why it faded, but The Brandos' HONOR AMONG THIEVES proved they were more than the one song. They're still at it, and no doubt "Gettysburg" still knock's 'em dead. #Rocktober

Going with BULLETS THROUGH THE BARRIER to represent The Movies’ output, but they’re all good. Dubbed the “British Steely Dan”, but the sound is distinctively their own and the songs bridge punk, pub and smooth rock expertly. “Merci and Bye Bye” remains one of rock’s great sign-off songs. #Rocktober

Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ DON’T STAND ME DOWN may have been a prime example of how not to follow up a hit album from the label’s standpoint, but it proves that if you follow your heart and give in to your art you’ll create a substantial work that some of us still talk about 40 years later. #Rocktober

#Rocktober will most likely not rock any harder than it does in Jim Steinman's sole solo effort BAD FOR GOOD, because few were ever this pure about the music. OK, it sounds like camp at times (most times), but so what? It's all heart and all for the love of rock 'n' roll and that's what matters.

The Flashing Lights’ WHERE THE CHANGE IS did not invent nor reinvent Canadian power pop, but it comes damn near close to perfecting it in ways that few (i.e. Sloan) could ever match. All-time bangers such as “High School” and “Talk To The Hand” make this a #Rocktober must.

Sloan’s 2014 COMMONWEALTH is the KISS solo albums of Sloan albums, but not. All four members get their own side and all four kill it, each providing some of their best songs. But it’s Andrew Scott’s “Forty-Eight Portraits”, a single 19-minute track, that makes it a #Rocktober classic.
