The stupidity is load bearing. The irrationality is the appeal. Trump is such a god like and omnipotent figure to the right because is the embodiment of the fantasy that they do not have to listen to any reason or critique and that sheer force of will and obstinance can prevail.

Since 2016 there’s been a crowd of people yelling about how the “next Trump” is going to be trump but smarter, or the next Trump appointee is going to be smarter, and without fail, they have just gotten dumber and dumber over time.

I don't believe anyone's getting rid of Trump as such, barring something REALLY outrageous coming out in the files. Maybe.

But the weaker he gets, the more infighting there'll be & thus weakening any possible replacement.

btw it's likely some people won't accept ANY replacement for Dear Leader

If the political will can be mustered up to get rid of the cult head then it can be mustered up for any piddling replacement.

Fear will have been dispelled in showing that it is possible for the right thing to be done, & good people in positions of power will behave more courageously as a result.

This feels like such a good encapsulation of the sort of takes escalation which all online discourse eventually results in. You’re mad that they may blow it next time?? Well *I’m* mad that they may win and then blow it the time after that! Have they even thought about how to win the country in 2036?
