They do a really good job with it. The sense of height, tension, and danger is pretty effective for what it is. Just wish the storytelling was at the same level of the production.

It's so frustratingly annoying. Then you have people like the head of Netflix hastening the demise of one our last 3rds spaces, movie theaters. Like so much of culture is ruined by corporations, the internet, and everyone's fucking need to have a hot funny take for likes and clout. I'm sick of it.

up and shown in theaters as part of a large scale release for the first time since the early 90s. Very few people thought this would ever happen. We have become such complainers and at the same gulpers of such garbage that we can't be happy with anything. And everything has to be snarky joke.

to Lucasfilm's special presentation of an og archival print (that until the LF refused to admit existed) and complaining that it looked bad. Like the whole point of that screen was to experience a piece of film history together. The theatrical cut is just gonna be the og cut, restored and cleaned...

And here is the thing. I get that it's satire. He's making fun of SW fans. I'm just sick of snark in place of a personality. I don't like smart-asses and people that are always on the side of cynicism. This coming from someone that's been in that camp. Folks rarely agree on SW, right now they do.

It really is. If you look at the comparisons the Despecialized guy does you really apprication the quality level difference. That's with YouTube compression, I can only imagine what it will look like on Bluray. Especially, if they are doing 6 or 8k archival wetgate film scan as their their base.

TLDR: Using 20-30+ copies of the original print the process stacks and tweak to achieve perfect alignment of all the frame details. Because even when brand new, every print of the film has different levels of detail available, you wind up with a level detail NEVER before seen in any single print.

For the longest time the OT "Despecialized" was the only way to watch the films. Then, the fan led Project 4K77, 80, and 83 happened. I have all these versions. It so cool see the guy that made Despecialized breakdown the alledged leaks of the new restoration. They look like Mike Verta's process.

Meanwhile, these idiots are going “oh we’re gonna get to AGI soon.” Never mind that current tech isn’t going in the direction to make AGI a reality, do they have any idea what would happen if AGI really existed? Like why do they think that it would automatically be OK with being a slave.

I think partially, it's the exact behavior you're describing leading to the death movie theaters. It comes down to customer experience and it's the theater's fault. They do next to nothing to insure good CX and act like we should still pay a premium price for it. A-list sorta solved that for us.
