We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

The Bible doesn’t really say anything about abortion but the amount Jesus explicitly says in that very famous book about how if you don’t help the poor or welcome the stranger you are a) likely going to Hell and b) not doing those things to Jesus Christ himself is rather clear
I can’t stress enough how weird it is.

When it’s a right-wing faith-led protest, I’m there. So are droves of other reporters.

But a lefty faith event? Often running solo.

But thanks for repeatedly giving me the story…everyone else!

“We’re the good guys,” I tell myself as a 6-year-old leukemia patient pees his pants in fear. I adjust my black mask and sunglasses in the mirror, making sure to hide my identity. “I am not evil,” I whisper.
Monstrous:

"They were crying in fear. One of the agents at one point lifted up his shirt, which displayed the gun that he was carrying....The 6-year-old boy was terrified to see the gun. He urinated on himself and wet all his clothing. No one offered him a change of clothing for many hours."
ICE arrested a 6-year-old boy with leukemia at immigration court. His family is suing.
A Honduran mother and her two children — ages 6 and 9 — sued the Trump administration over their arrest at Los Angeles Immigration Court, the first lawsuit challenging the arrests of children under a ...

The goal isn’t to convince with facts.

The goal is to corrode empathy, disrupt moral clarity, and prepare followers to accept, or cheer for, more violence.

It’s narrative grooming for fascism.

The Alt-right are already there... they're primed and ready to join in the assassinations.
🧵I think it’s important to understand what disinformation like Sen. Mike Lee’s tweets are trying to do, psychologically/cognitively. In my disinfo class/Substack, I talk about how disinfo often uses “moral disengagement strategies” to manipulate people into accepting harmful conduct 1/
This is an egregiously shameful tweet from a US senator

This is what fascism looks like - using a conspiracy theory about a dehumanized outgroup as a pretext for seizing political power and wielding arbitrary authority. What you read about in the history books is happening right here, right now.
Trump declares war on cities

“We must expand efforts to detain & deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as LA, Chicago, & NY, where Millions of Illegal Aliens reside. These, & other Cities, are core of the Dem Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base”

People were still mean to him, so he bought the US government.

And he is going to use it to hunt down those bad people!

Yes, that's the problem: Joe Biden hasn't done enough to draw a sharp contrast with a lunatic authoritarian, and maybe if he gives some speeches on interest rates and green energy, those differences will become clearer
What are the top issues for young voters? The environment, ability to buy a home, have a family, the opportunities available and the perception of safety home and abroad. While student loans chips away at this, there is more to do. Biden needs to talk to these issues more. Contrast himself to Trump.
