I knit tiny nonsense.

There's also likely to be a fair bit of swearing.
Found this on the side of the road. Almost left it, but then saw that the top opened.

So of course I brought it home, cleaned it up, oiled it, and replaced the knobs.

And now it (briefly) looks like this. Its real use for me will be as a plant stand, but we needed the rainbow thread pic!

Series of thoughts, more or less in order:

1: Ohhhh, pretty!
2: God fucking dammit...oh wait, there's another one on the other side...do I even actually know how to knit?
3: Hold on, I can fix it...
4: I shall now be smugly satisfied that at least my mistakes teach me to be good at fixing things.

If you are able to avoid the news and make something today, I highly recommend it. You don't have to watch the absolute travesty taking place. It will still happen whether you watch or not, and watching it will probably hurt, so you're allowed to care for yourself instead.

It's one giant piece of paper folded up to make several pockets. The idea is that I'll hang it on the wall and fill the pockets with things that bring me joy.

My country is inaugurating a fascist rapist today. Again. Instead of a competent woman. Again. And that's doing a number on my brain, so I'm going to spend the day working on the next iteration of this.

Libraries are so damn cool!

My local library is doing a four week embroidery class, and it's been so fun. First two weeks turned out this, and you can totally come join for the next two weeks if you're so inclined!

I'm trying out tiktok. Which I realize this is hilariously bad timing, what with the ban. But whatever, that's what being a small business is like!

So, if you're on there come find me: www.tiktok.com/@HunterHamme...

I don't know what I'm doing, so there may be amusing mistakes! 🧶

I thought I was done knitting urchins. I really did.

But then you see I found myself somewhere that sold beads.

And I was quickly overcome. As so often happens.

So now there must be at least a few more urchins.

I'm sure you understand.

Remember those pinchy pinch purses your grandma had in her bag? The ones where you pretended they were monster mouths when you opened them?

How about a knitted version?

Going 'chomp chomp chomp' is optional, but encouraged!

Oh my.

Maine.

I possess:

1) an eye-searingly bright pink sweater with substandard buttons (& bonus kitten guardian)

2) three options for slightly better buttons

3) plans spend tomorrow evening at one of the rare events at which this sweater would be appropriate

4) crippling indecision

Help me pick!

This is fine. This is a reasonable thing to do with both my time and yarn. Totally fine. Absolutely normal. No need for alarm. 🧶

I have successfully done a bookshelf purge.

I have 3 tall bookcases in the dining room, and between them I was able to locate 20 books that are ready to go live happier lives somewhere else.

This, plus a little rearranging, led to the creation of One Empty Shelf, which I shall fill with plants.
April 22, 2024 at 10:09 AM
The plant I thought was dying has made a bunch of new leaves.

This is one of the five good feelings.

Others include "happy cat on me," "excellent leftovers in the fridge for lunch," "fresh sheets," and "ooooh, I forgot I'd already done that bit, now I'm ahead of schedule."

We're voting over here: patreon.com/posts/which-... and whichever one wins will come out later this month!

I've got...expansion packs for both of these patterns that talk about how you do all that nifty embroidery. They came out as exclusives for members last year, but now it's time to make them available more generally. And we need to pick which one!

I desperately want a version where "water" is replaced with "mood".

I've been doing this on the blog/patreon/instagram for a while, but I want to do it here too.

Every month I do a post saying “abortions are good” and send a donation to AidAccess.org (where you can order abortion pills online, even if you live somewhere with a ban, even if you’re not pregnant).

Same pic, the stuff smudged over in pink is The Whole Stash. That's it. That's all of it.

The stuff smudged over in blue is old book samples (which I need to purge next) and other finished things I hang on to for future pics/work stuff.

The gray bins at the top are full of photo props. 🧶

I have PURGED THE YARN CLOSET.

I did, of course, completely fail to take a before picture. But that will not stop me from reveling!

The built in shelf & the white shelf used to be full of stuff, the bins themselves used to be bursting at the seams, & there had been yarn shoved between/on the bins.
February 24, 2024 at 6:26 PM
P.S. The pattern is Lather, and I think it's rather lovely!
It's on ravelry www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... and payhip.com/b/rEAju

P.P.S. I blanked out the names of the commenters because, even though they left their comments in a public place, We Do Not Harass folks. We're cooler than that.

It starts with the cover & admin bits (intro, yarn/gauge/sizing/contact, stitch definitions). The pattern is next, then charts for 6 different variations. Then pictures, labeled so you can see which is which. Then more admin stuff with answers to all my most common questions and the back cover.

My full response is in the screenshots, but the gist is that everyone gets decide what they want to spend on patterns, & designers get to set their prices however they want.

My patterns are awesome and I’m completely comfortable with what I charge for them. You can see what’s in this one here.
February 22, 2024 at 3:07 PM
I am going to be snarky for a sec.

Every time a pattern for a little thing gets popular, I get comments like this. I get enough that I have a standard response.

And they used to bug the crap out of me, but now I mostly see them as a chance to do a little outreach & education.

So let's do that.

I told you this was what I wanted to do anyway! Wee bits of cheerful sparkle!

The instructions for the...confetti? glitter? there is not a name for this and there needs to be...are up over here: www.patreon.com/posts/loved-...

And there's a discount code in there for the knitted bits too!
