I cannot emphasize how serious an assault on democracy this is. Any effort by the Trump administration to engage in false claims of fraud or mass voter suppression relies on this as a building block. As importantly, there is no legitimate reason DOJ would want this information.
🚨BREAKING: The Department of Justice (DOJ) sued Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C. Thursday for unfettered access to the states’ voter registration records. The federal government has now filed lawsuits against 21 states, plus D.C.

This is a developing story...

Major thanks to @rude1.blacksky.team and the brilliant Blacksky platform he's built. We bypassed the "age assurance" hurdle by logging into Blacksky.

For those not be aware, the Chicago Committee on Immigrant & Refugee Rights has a form you can fill out to report potential violations of the Welcoming City Ordinance (i.e., assisiting federal agents w/ immigration enforcement) by CPD officers or other city employees:

After their violent raid into Evanston on Halloween, I'm not too surprised Bovino and Border Patrol are back in Chicagoland right before Christmas. No day is sacred to the faceless gestapo army; if anything it seems one of their goals is to destroy the idea that any time or place may be sacred.
Border Patrol Boss Greg Bovino Back In Chicago As Agents Target Southwest Side
Bovino and about 200 Border Patrol agents have arrived in Chicago for more enforcement action. "It's going to be a merry Christmas in Chicago," Bovino told Block Club reporters.

New: a suit filed in federal court late Weds alleges high-ranking cops in CPD—& other city officials—ignored a detective's complaints about fellow officer Marco Torres.

He's accused of "physically, mentally and sexually" abusing her, intimidating witnesses, and trying to put out a hit on her:

Attorneys say their client has faced years of violent abuse and threats at the hands of another detective while top brass and city officials have refused to investigate or discipline him.

Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

We must keep protecting our children.
