2 deaths last weekend in London were from pills confirmed as #nitazenes & similar to pills tested by The Loop.
They looked like oxys BUT it is not known what they were bought as.
Take care whatever pills you take.
Carry #naloxone, check in on friends & test if you can.

The role of opioids, benzos and z-drugs in fatal overdoses. Accompanied by a picture of me back in my harm reduction modelling days 😜
🚨New blog🚨Drug deaths are rising in the UK. Many of these deaths involve a combination of #opioids & #benzodiazepines or z-drugs. We set out to understand how these drugs work together & why this makes a fatal overdose more likely.

Great to see #HarmReduction messages front and centre in Hackney . These posters were a collaboration between @turningpoint-uk.bsky.social @changegrowlive.bsky.social @cranstoun.org @waythrough-uk.bsky.social and HIT. Different organisations but a shared message 💛
Harm reduction saves lives.

Grateful to Hackney @turningpoint-uk.bsky.social for showing me around the service including needle exchange, clinical spaces & chats with the roguh sleeper team.

So much compassion & care for people who use drugs.

On the way to London to deliver a Train the Trainer session for a young person’s specific overdose response & naloxone training that we’ve developed. Look forward to sharing more details as we roll it out across all @turningpoint-uk.bsky.social substance use services & hopefully wider.

@janmayor.bsky.social is here 😁 To paraphrase Bob Dylan, Jan has forgotten more about #HarmReduction than I’ll ever know! Give her a follow 😊

6 years ago today I made one of my worst wardrobe decisions ever, and we launched the Low Dead Space campaign. This was a collaboration with people currently using drugs to promote the benefits of LDS syringes. Still one of my proudest achievements. 👇 www.exchangesupplies.org/product/P121

I want to say a massive thank you to my lovely friend @steelewez.bsky.social at @scottishdrugsforum.bsky.social for sending me this bag of goodies. It’s not just the message on the shirt that reminds me we’re all in this together ♥️ #TogetherWeCan #StopTheDeaths

Congratulations to all the amazing people whose hard work & commitment to save lives made this happen. Although the pessimist in me can’t see an OPC opening in England any time soon, the optimist in me hopes this will be the first of many across the UK.

And just like that it was over. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to our #saferlives2024 conference. I especially want to thank all of our speakers who made it such a truly thought provoking, emotional and inspiring event. Too many highlights to pick just one ♥️

Almost ready to go for #SaferLives24 In just over an hour we’ll be welcoming 200 delegates for a day focussed on what we can do to address the year on year rise of avoidable drug deaths.

Despite lots of train cancellations thanks to Storm Bert battering the West Country, the harm reduction gods are with me & Dev is on her way to Birmingham for #SaferLives24

As this year’s Safer Lives Conference is almost upon us I thought I’d share some moments from last year’s event, including ending the day in a government sanctioned consumption room with some harm reduction legends ♥️

I love the intersection of harm reduction and punk. For me it’s a no brainer although sadly something we don’t really see in the UK. This event is for a really important cause, but based on the band descriptions alone I’d be there. 🧷🧷🧷
Victoria people - go support DULF this Friday and catch some punk bands!

I’ve spent most of today overthinking my introductory speech for Safer Lives 2024. Really excited to be returning to Birmingham for our sold out 3rd conference. This year’s theme - Harm Reduction in a Time of Change. For anyone on here who’s coming, I look forward to catching up with you next week.

And just like that, I went. Bye bye X. Haven’t got a clue what I’m doing here though so bear with me while I work it out.
