Joachim Goedhart

As one of the most prolific authors on the Node, Joachim Goedhartwrote the Node’s most-read post 'Data Visualization with Flying Colors'. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unravelling G-protein signalling networks in time and space in cells and tissues.

Is endothelium a type of epithelium?

I am @icfortunato.bsky.social & I would like to discuss this with a short🧵 focused on cell-cell junctions, specifically adherens junctions.

This still is one of our favourite experiments!

In 2012, @huveneerslab.bsky.social et al. show 2 states of AJs in endothelial cells: stable and remodeling.

Stable state ➡️ actin cables parallel to the junctions & have low force.

Remodeling state ➡️ actin cables perpendicular to the junctions & have high force.
