One thing I learned working on the hill is that A LOT of states depend on H-1B for their medical staff. This puts entire communities at risk because they won't have providers.

It's jarring for Miller to admit they want plenary authority but this isn't new. They've been trying to do this since jan 20. And the co-branches are letting them! Congress relegated their checks and balances via their inaction and SCOTUS has given the greenlight. why does no one have a backbone?!

Something that did not come up during the arguments today, but that I can't stop thinking about, is the 'bans on bans' 11th circuit case (Otto-southern states in yellow). That case was about a local ordinance, not a state law. It might seem like a small difference but it really, really matters.

Chiles v Salazar is the clearest example that anti-trans fights are about all LGBTQI people. A lot of those conversion therapy bans were passed to regulate sexual orientation CT. Just bc they got the court’s attention by focusing on gender identity today, doesn’t mean their goal isn’t more broad.

Open enrollment obviously impacts people whose only coverage option is ACA insurance. But it also impacts people who are offered expensive employer-sponsored plans who will need to do the math to determine if ACA fits their budget. No one can do this until the subsidies are finalized.

ADF literally just asked for a randomized control trial to test if conversion therapy harms kids in a supreme court oral argument.

Quick reaction to the oral argument in Chiles: 90% of trans kids do NOT "desist" or "detransition" as the ADF's lawyer claimed. Their moral argument rests on the claim that conversion therapy "helps kids" when all of the evidence shows the exact opposite.
