It's jarring for Miller to admit they want plenary authority but this isn't new. They've been trying to do this since jan 20. And the co-branches are letting them! Congress relegated their checks and balances via their inaction and SCOTUS has given the greenlight. why does no one have a backbone?!

Time to tune-in to SCOTUS's oral argument audio because today is Chiles v. Salazar; a case about Colorado's ban on conversion "therapy" for minors. More than 20 states have similar bans--which fall under state powers to regulate medical care. www.supremecourt.gov/oral_argumen...

BASH: Are you okay w/ the military using American cities as 'training grounds'?

JOHNSON: I don't know what's being implied by that

B: It suggests troops are going to be in cities & use them military training

J: That's been very beneficial for the Guard

B: So it's ok?

J: It's a win-win scenario

Sometimes they say the quiet part. Here, re. the specious “originalist” approach. You don’t need to bother with pesky, inconvenient things like precedent. Just whatever you imagine to be the “original intent” of the documents — which, of course, will always justify what you wanted to do all along.
Clarence Thomas says precedent might not determine cases on upcoming supreme court docket
The court is expected to weigh in on same-sex marriage next session, which it legalized in 2015

First time any major congressional caucus has backed legislation to end US aid for Israel’s destruction of Gaza.

After almost two years, more and more politicians, experts, and human rights groups are finally using the G-word to describe Israel's violence in Gaza, but the list is still relatively short.

Fifteen years after Citizens United opened the floodgates of corporate and dark political money, the Center for American Progress has figured out how to slam them back shut.

CAP published its groundbreaking how-to report today: "The Corporate Power Reset That Makes Citizens United Irrelevant."
