Hamas's tactical position is far worse than it was two years ago, total tactical failure in that regard. Also a total failure at preserving or saving Palestinian lives. But if you assume that they meant to provoke the response they got, well, Israel's standing in the world *is* much worse now.

I will likely regret posting this, but one thing that's strange about Oct 7th from the perspective of political-military operation (that was also a war crime, yes) is that it's not really clear if it was a success or not, even after two years. It depends on what you conceptualize the goal as I guess

Sora is not the real problem here. The real problem is that in 12, at most 24 months, there will be a Sora clone from Tencent or Alibaba that is just as good and can be run by anybody with a 5099, at which point everyone in society needs to rapidly agree to treat all digital video as fake, period.

I think this is half the goal of AI for those seeking a post-truth order. Yes, they can produce fake evidence against people they don’t like, but probably more importantly they can dismiss actual evidence against them as being fake.

tbh sorta find ‘reasonable’ republicans more disconcerting these days. like there’s a couple of guys in CA that are relatively cogent critics of a lot of things like housing dysfunction in state govt, personable to interact with, who would be ok with Stephen miller having me jailed for my politics.
