You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

If you watch the clip he doesn't mock Kirk's death at all, he mocks Trump's reaction to it (the ballroom thing). It's clear MAGA is now using Kirk's death as a wedge to shut down all mockery of Trump himself, which is pretty scary.

Well the pretence was the norm, and a pretty grim norm, but my point is I don't even think that exists any more in a lot of cases. And that's going to embolden racists even more to be open about their racism.

And that's not to say mainstream parties didn't enact racist policies or have major issues with racist MPs/membership, but you at least had to *pretend* you despised violent racists who were rioting to intimate and attack people of colour, not concede ground to them.

There's been a real frog boiling shift on both sides of the Atlantic in the past few years from the mainstream political consensus being racism is bad and needs to be opposed' to 'it's complicated and no voices should be ignored' even if their only opinion is basically white people are superior.
