I always get to the end of the year and can never remember what films films 🍿 I’ve seen so going to start a thread of all the movies 🎥 I watch in 2025 (mostly at home because of good old caring responsibilities)

Ah that’s rubbish. Sorry for you all

I can remember that impulsive need to apologise for my son’s unusual behaviours when he was younger, all the while thinking “what the F am I apologising for?!”

These days I’ll tend to respond the the minimum amount of diplomacy I can get away with

I’m off school with the flu and thought I’d imagined Kemi Badenoch saying Terry Pratchett was her favourite author as a fever dream

But no

It turns out Kemi really did read Discworld but understand none of it

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

It’s a great film though

You won’t be disappointed if the stars align and you do find yourself watching it

You don’t have to be called Steve or Stephen to work at Blackpool, but it does help.
A club statement from Blackpool saying Steve Bruce has been sacked along with coaches Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence. Stephen Dobbie and Steve Banks will take temporary charge.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

an extraordinary person with an extraordinary legacy who nevertheless didn’t take herself too seriously

when Gary Larson published this cartoon, she was in Africa and her institute was horribly offended and drafted a complaint

the whole thing was defused when she returned - she found it funny
Far Side cartoon with a female chimpanzee grooming a male chimpanzee

“Well, well - another blond hair. … Conducting a little more ‘research’ with that Jane Goodall tramp?”

When Shabana Mahmood says migrants can’t get indefinite leave to remain if ‘taking a penny in benefits’, this must mean a couple - maybe working as NHS doctors or nurses - must forget about claiming any care support if they have a child with disabilities. Yes, this is Labour 2025
