anyway, it is a standing offer so if at any point in the future you decide you would like to look into it at all, i would be happy to help however i can!

yeah, it has its difficulties, don't get me wrong, and i share the executive dysfunction. it can feel like running uphill. but the first part of diss writing is lit review, so you're spinning yourself up on what's out there. you may never feel ready, but ime you are more ready than you think.
ianlasch.bsky.social
if it would be helpful to talk more in detail with someone doing a distance part-time phd (though in a different field), would be happy to share about my experience at aberdeen (and i don't doubt some others would too).

i hear you on that. definitely look abroad, then, as the structure is different (all dissertation, no coursework), which isn't *less* academic, but is less academic performance and more just academic writing. in either case, it is 100% about finding the right advisor as opposed to the right program.

though i should also clarify that this is if you are looking for programs within the states. your options open up a bit if you are willing to look abroad.
ianlasch.bsky.social
if one wants an emphasis on liturgical theology, one's options are fairly limited. the only two programs i know of for certain are notre dame and catholic u (both of which, i should note, are phds rather than thds, if that matters).

i also think a lot of attempted hypocrisy gotchas these days are particularly toothless because they actually cut both ways.

For National Disability Employment Awareness Month at @motherjones.com, I spoke to four disabled federal workers who were laid off about how their old jobs were very accessible—and what the federal government loses out on by having fewer disabled employees. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
The human costs of Trump's war on government
For many disabled workers, federal jobs were decent, human, and accommodating: everything the president hates.

Flying cars are the perfect example of a point solution: trying to solve a systemic problem (traffic) with an individual product (fly over the traffic).

But traffic is not a technology problem; it's a social problem. Remote work, congestion fees, and dense transit-connected housing solve it better.
aelkus.bsky.social
which then begs the question of why you want flying cars instead of whatever mass transportation equivalent you imagine

Our job is to love our kids the way God loves us: completely, abundantly, joyfully, unconditionally, infinitely.

It should be noted that this is how we are asked to love everyone as well. All of humanity. It shocks me how often these so-called "christians" forget this.

Wild that the "disquieting" scenario in MacIntyre's After Virtue is actually happening right now, to popular acclaim

i sort of agree with this, but am coming around to the idea that maybe we shouldn't prescribe bodily postures, since not all bodies can do all things. "as able" still seemingly makes it clear that there is a "right" way for your body to perform during the liturgy, and i'm not sure that's correct!
