I regularly meet with the police, and we are keen to give residents the opportunity to talk to us in person in an informal setting about concerns they may have. The police will also be able to give advice around reporting crimes, which is so important in tackling these issues.

SAVE THE DATE: ⏰Please join me, local police officers and councillors on Saturday 18th October, 10-12pm, to raise any concerns you may have about crime and safety issues in Histon, Impington and Orchard Park.

My thoughts today are with all those whose lives were brutally taken two years ago today, with their families, and with the hostages who continue to be held by Hamas.
eddavey.libdems.org.uk
Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel.
“Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
“Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK – a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
“We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“This cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.
“With new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good." Ed Davey

✔️ Visited St Neots Museum to have a tour of their 30th anniversary exhibition and learn more about the long and varied history of our town.
Ian inside St Neots Museum being given a tour. He is looking at an exhibit that is a straw house with a big brown sack outside it. Inside the house you can see old tools - such as a pitchfork. A woman is showing Ian a screen next to the exhibit.

✔️ Launched a campaign alongside Cambridgeshire Liberal Democrat MPs to reverse cuts at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, which will see it forced to close nine beds. We met with the charity’s CEO, wrote to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and started a petition.

I am still very much enjoying making the most of the Conference Recess break to get out and about in the constituency. Here is my weekly roundup of some highlights from last week across St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire 👇

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community.

I understand Cambridgeshire Police are in contact with our local Jewish community to provide advice and reassurance. There is no place for hatred of any kind in our community, and we stand with our Jewish neighbours.

I too am shocked and saddened by the horrific attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester today. That this happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more appalling.

It’s time for the government to see through its ambition for proper community-based care before it’s too late.

Save palliative care beds at Arthur Rank Hospices - Pippa Heylings MP

Everyone deserves access to excellent care right until the very end of their lives. Our hospices, not our overstretched hospitals, should be properly supported to provide this.
iansollom.bsky.social
The hospice provides wonderful care to families, enabling people to die with dignity whilst receiving professional, caring support for themselves and their loved ones.

3. Roll out the move from hospital to community care with hospices and GPs at its heart: ensure the new NHS 10 Year Plan supports the critical role hospices play in delivering the government’s own policy of providing community-based care and alleviating pressure on NHS hospitals.
iansollom.bsky.social
2. Provide long-term, sustainable funding through the ICB for the hospice's specialist palliative care services.

1. Restore the funding deficit to ensure all 23 beds at the Arthur Rank Hospice remain open and serving people at the most difficult time of their lives.

Alongside my two Cambridgeshire Liberal Democrat MP colleagues, Charlotte Cane and Pippa Heylings, I have launched a petition and written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care urging him to:
iansollom.bsky.social
I am utterly dismayed at the news that the Arthur Rank Hospice @arthurrankhospice.bsky.social, which provides such important care to people across my constituency, is facing a huge funding cut which could lead to it closing 9 out of 23 beds and increasing pressure on demand for hospital beds.

Across the country, communities are being held back by a lack of access to training.
