It's just heartbreaking to me that people typically have more empathy for a cat or a dog who's living like we are, but not for us
When a dog survives to old age on the streets it's commendable, but if we do it, we're "not helping ourselves"

To be clear, I'm an animal lover and I've worked wildlife conservation (which is rewarding in a VERY different way than domestic rescue)
All stray animals deserve this
