I’ll sheepishly admit that I just watched this one for the first time. I’m forgiving a few (really distracting) editing flubs because of the awesomely bleak ending that slams shut plot holes like the lid of a coffin.

The Woman in Black (1989 version): You don’t need much in the way of special effects to make a truly frightening movie. Effective camera work, creepy sound design, and a script from Nigel Kneale don’t hurt though.
