Fakt: Vitamin A wird eingesetzt, um Komplikationen einer Masernkrankheit zu verhindern. Es bietet keinen Schutz vor Ansteckung und Übertragung.

Mythos: „Vitamin A ist eine wirksame Alternative zur Impfung gegen Masern.“

Erklärung: Die Behauptung, Vitamin A oder Fischöl seien eine wirksame Alternative zur Masernimpfung, ist falsch. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) empfiehlt Vitamin A zur Unterstützung bei der Behandlung einer akuten Masernerkrankung, aber nicht als Ersatz für eine Impfung. Vitamin A kann weder eine Infektion noch eine Weiterverbreitung von Masern verhindern. Es gleicht lediglich einen möglichen Vitamin-A-Mangel aus und kann das Risiko für schwere Komplikationen reduzieren, wenn ein Mangel besteht. Vitamin A sollte nur nach ärztlicher Verordnung eingenommen werden, da eine Überdosierung gesundheitliche Schäden verursachen kann.

Fakt: Vitamin A kann ein sinnvoller Teil der Behandlung von Masern sein, indem ein möglicher Mangel ausgeglichen wird. Es kann aber keinen wirksamen Schutz vor Masern bieten. Die Impfung bietet einen wissenschaftlich belegten, sicheren und langfristigen Schutz vor einer Masernkrankheit.
