Insane article. The vast majority of this increase is because we were exposed to burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s our generation’s agent orange.
As a burn pit veteran myself, the economist is absolutely wrong here. My guess is there were no burn pit vets on the board that wrote this

Something I learned on deployments. Our minds play mental models to help us prepare for the unknown. Worst case rehearsals. Bad things can/will happen. No way around it. But It’s often not as bad as we imagined. Still, a worst case can happen. Acceptance of it will allow you to act as you need to.
The truth is, none of us really know what the next four years will look like. It’s incredibly difficult to predict what happens next. It does not feel good.
