It feels inadequate to send a post into the void about how much Dick Van Dyke has meant to me, especially but not only on TDVDS. But, well, Rob Petrie offered a model of masculinity and marriage and adulthood that helped me as a kid see beyond my limited, exurban existence. TV at its best.
