Bought kid #1 two books today that they are thrilled to start reading—Fahrenheit 451 & Parable of the Sower. I bought myself It Can’t Happen Here & a mystery novel. Checkout person joked with us, “just a little light reading, huh?” Yep, get the books they want banned before they’re gone.

Thinking of my dad who died in 2019 a lot lately. He was a HS history & psych teacher & local politician my whole life. My childhood was 100% about democratic principles. Glad he didn’t see this, but I need to defend it for my kids. #resist #nokings

Nightly gratitude practice of listing 3 things since Jan has been going something like this:
1. My gov opposes fascism (IL)
2. We have a plan to get to Canada if needed.
3. The kids are ok (for now, at least).
