I refuse to give Douthat any more attention than absolutely necessary (which is very little). What little respect I had for him crashed to zero years ago when he advocated renewed stigmatization of single motherhood. No one should have to waste their energy on this stuff!

And a couple of weeks ago I came up with a Star-Wars-based problem that I was going to put on this week's homework. For the human touch, it relies on Leia rolling her eyes and taking matters into her own hands. I can change the characters, but it won't be the same.

It was fine, and non-negotiable, to get rid of Harry Potter-based problems and examples. But the course materials are also littered with Marvel, Star Trek and Star Wars references.

Using Preview on Mac to annotate a pdf with tutorial solutions (yes, clunky, but for *reasons* I inherited tutorials in Word format, so I'm working with this scheme). Preview's annotate is helpfully trying to provide answers, with units, to the equations I type out. But they're incorrect!
