There's a scene in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cloud (2024) in which you're so locked in on a couple looking at their phone on a bus that the eventual jumpscare that follows is so frightening that it probably belongs in the top half of Kurosawa's career scares. Exceptional film

ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT (2024, Puyal Kapadia). One of the best looking films out there but also one who's inspirations are so apparent. Felt a lot of French New Wave in here, as well as nods to Akerman (I thought a LOT about News From Home) and Edward Yang. This scene in particular is so special

really coming around to The Apprentice as being pretty great. i enjoyed it on first viewing but on reflection it creates this really fun and intoxicating vibe while also having Seb Stan and Jeremy Strong give insane performances as two very evil people.
