With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.

If you are serving on NIH study sections that have been cancelled, PLEASE continue to work on your reviews. NIH will do everything their power to ensure the meetings happen eventually, and the more prepared you are when those meetings are rescheduled, the better.
Welp. Thanks to the Republican gov shutdown I have a bunch of hours back in my week due to a NIH study section not meeting.
These poor applicants. They will be waiting week by week for government to reopen and to find out what will happen to their grant application.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Across the country, if you're having any trouble getting your COVID vaccine, you should be calling your representatives and letting them know that RFKs actions are making Americans less safe. People and pharmacies need better guidance. Things will only change if we speak up.
