The last week was really rough. But I am home now with my kittens and am looking forward to rest as much as I can the next several days.

On my way home and my brain is just like, sleep, now. Good thing tomorrow is going to be a lazy day.

I went out to a Festivus party with some friends and it was lovely. The Midwest showed up and gave us a mid-50’s temp day with sunshine. And some interesting entertainment to boot!

I’ve hit the sad realization after a long, stressful weekend that I have to let go of my hopes to reconcile with one of my siblings. It’s going to be a process to get through this, but they don’t add to my life anymore. Lots of feels.

Watching the Home Alone 2 booby traps scenes and realizing as an adult they could be a drinking game: [character] should be dead now, take a shot.

I finished a short story for the first time in years and my brain is feeling all the endorphins.

Me watching Home Alone: holy crap. The amount of food Kevin just got less than 20 bucks is insane. 30 years ago life was so much cheaper it’s disgusting.

It’s one of those Friday mornings where I am so sleepy still I would love to cuddle back down.

I got a wart on my finger frozen and it hurts so much more than I thought it would. Dominant hand issues.
December 18, 2025 at 3:57 PM
But the truth of the matter is… my heart hurts. This year has been rough as hell. And I would just like to spend the rest of it mentally curled and cuddling, getting all the rest my body didn’t get when it needed it.

The amount of times I’ve gotten this message in the last six months is bonkers.

I technically weighed in on Jane Austen’s 250th Anniversary in August but it’s time to repost it again. I still hope that Austen fandom will continue to make serious efforts to diversify both who is an Austen fan and the media inspired by her works. www.wgbh.org/tv-shows/dra...

For Jane Austen's 250th Birthday I am sharing my article for @theconversation.com that warns against pretending Austen was radical or "wild". She was a Conservative, supported of empire and mainstream tenets of white supremacy and heteronormative primogeniture.

How terrifyingly true: “It's actually something I long for. To be able to be more genuine with more people, in all my hues and multitudes.”

Happy 250th birthday, Jane! I hope you all spend it enjoying her writing, watching the movies, and eating a slice of cake before Mr. Woodhouse sees you. Here's how I celebrated Jane Austen this year. janeaustenfirstdrafts.substack.com/p/my-year-in...

I told my therapist the other day that I don’t have seasonal depression and they were like “are you sure? You were just talking about randomly going away.”
“oh, I’m sure. Trip planning gives me happy endorphins = depression coping mechanism.” “
We are very different people.” 😋
