Hey folks,

I'm making my book group read 'Venoni' by Matthew Lewis and I wondered if any of my Gothic and Romanticism friends would be interested in doing a live reading/dramatic performance. The more drama, the better!

Give me a shout if you could be into it!

Great to speak about using print and digital archives in teaching, on the Victorian Pedagogies panel with @timgao.bsky.social and @harbottlestores.bsky.social at @bavs-uk.bsky.social PGR/ECR Professionalisation Afternoon

Also had sneaky peek at the Tales of Weird collection at Oxford's Blackwells!

I watched this film for the first time in my grandparent's house, during a critical "banging on walls" scene my uncle knocked on the outside of the window behind me because he'd forgotten his keys and I nearly expired with fright.

Our next online film club discussion will take place on 6 August at 7pm Irish time! We're discussing The Haunting, Robert Wise's 1963 adaptation of Shirley Jackson's masterpiece! Free registration will get you access to the film & zoom links. Open to all! www.eventbrite.ie/e/inghs-film...
The poster for the 1963 movie The Haunting shows a sort of elongated face of a woman who looks terrified. Below her is a logo for the film, which is a stylized sort of image that looks like a house but also like a maze with a woman trapped inside. The tagline says "You May Not Believe in Ghosts But You Cannot Deny Terror"

A poster that shows the Rock of Cashel but it is very dark and stylized, in front of a darkish sky. At the bottom it says "Back from the Dead: The Irish Network for Gothic and Horror Studies, 22 February 2025, 10-5pm, Keynote by Dr Miranda Corcoran." The location of the event is Trinity College Dublin Long Room Hub. The bottom has the link to register: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/1115505259259?aff=oddtdtcreator

To clarify, we have not hit the limit for tickets yet, but we are getting there! It is absolutely fantastic to see so much excitement and engagement.

We are absolutely delighted with the response we have received so far, still a month out. Unfortunately, we have had to limit the number of tickets due to space constraints. We have a waitlist, though. If you can't attend, make sure to cancel your ticket to free it up for someone on the waitlist.
