Took me a while to think of a score for this one. Its weird, definitely has its faults, but overall a fun thriller. I would liked to have a couple of chapters added to the end for closure.

Bought King Sorrow today. Excited, i smashed out some jobs around the house and sat down in the afternoon to start reading. Only then did i discover the first 36 pages had fallen out of the binding. Didn't get a reciept either. Devo.

Went in blind and was shocked. I don't read a lot of scifi but maybe I should add more to the rotation. Great book. Great unique story. Might be one of the best books I have read in years.

I really enjoyed the beginning. First 200 pages I was thinking this was going to be a new favourite. But then... the story changed. The dragonscale didn't matter much anymore and the outside burning world was forgotten.

I love the concept of a dark fairy tale and the story as a whole, but I felt everything needed more depth. The world and characters felt half fleshed out while a pointless romance plot took up pages.

Had some creepy moments that I enjoyed, but I found myself pushing through to finish.

The story was basic, which is fine, but the characters were too unlikeable to carry my interest. The dialogue felt a bit cringy, too.

John Langan's The Fisherman.

4/5 stars

It's a slow burn, but in a good way. Listened to the audiobook, which I would recommend. The narration feels as if you are there, having the MC retell his horrible tale. Unique story and structure.
