There is quite a bit of bad writing advice on social media these days. So if you disagree with something, it’s fine to completely disregard it. In fact, it’s probably better for your writing to ignore the crap advice.

There were gods, and their absence is one reason that the world is falling apart. A lot of the characters still try to speak for these gods that have been gone a long time, positive they understand these unknowable entities. There are also darker gods who contribute to the destruction of the world.
