a bit sad I can't go to the parade today because 12 years ago I saw the parade but I was a recent transplant from Denver who was feeling less than celebratory about the humiliating thrashing my home city received

people on Reddit are saying if Patrick Rothfuss is having trouble wrapping up book 3 he should just split it into two books, and I'm sorry but in what reality is "You waited 15+ years for this conclusion but surprise! cliffhanger and one more book to wait for!" going to go well for anyone?

Finished Pokemon Legends ZA (not the DLC) and I had been playing the entire game just with the implicit assumption that of course the CEO was going to end up being the main villain and then she just... wasn't? Perhaps my enjoyment of a fictional video game has been too influenced by real life

always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

Yesterday during the sportsbowl the announcer guy was like "does anyone remember the legion of boom" and I was like "of course I do, that was only like a week ago" anyway if anyone needs me I'll be at the retirement home eating werthers originals

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

I'm pleased that my city's sports team seems to be good at field goals

this genspark commercial is awfully confident that these people are going to continue getting paid to let AI do their job

definitely signs of a healthy capitalist society that the most elite advertising event of the year is dominated by crypto and sports betting

Cyrna has a spirit realm which humans kind of skim against when flying in the Linking (controlling their ships by flying them like a giant ship-shaped mech lol) and cross through directly when planeshifting (outright teleporting). Gods, demons, and dragons live in the spirit realm natively.
Hey there, #FebruaryWorldbuilders. We're getting weird this week and talking about metaphysical aspects of our worlds. Do you have any nonphysical realms? Dream worlds, mind worlds, spiritual realms, a space of pure mathematics, etc. What are they in your setting?

Good morning from the harbor seal factory!

We got several working harbor seal families ready to challenge the establishment!

Here you can see a mother teaching their baby about the union.

Get em started young!

Because they're filmed in the same place and I think Tom Cashman and Paul Williams look a little bit alike I can NEVER remember off the top of my head whether a given Taskmaster AU/NZ episode was AU or NZ

Weirdly feeling like I lost an integral part of myself when I released Broken Sky (almost four years ago!) because that story existed part-formed in my head for more than half my life at that point, and now I can't just restart Broken Sky from scratch out of boredom like I did for much of my 20s

More than two decades of Lilo and Stitch existing and I never realized that these two are not the same person with/without makeup

There are some things that really do require a certain amount of class privilege to be able to afford to do the "ethical" version, like buying organic food for instance. However, choosing not to use AI is, in fact, free.

Absolutely fascinating how both leftists and conservatives seem to consider Reddit a biased echo chamber favoring the other side

if we're going to really split hairs, the earliest surviving story we know about that could be construed as sci-fi is the legend of Daedelus and Icarus
