I grew up in a place where skiing and snowboarding was THE winter activity that everyone did on the weekends but I was always terrified of the stupid chairlift never mind the activity itself 😭

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

Deceased humans chill there for a bit as a stopover before reincarnation but most do not live there long term. I have other books planned eventually that emphasize the spirit realm a lot more, but it's only slightly touched on in the Skies of Cyrna trilogy

Cyrna has a spirit realm which humans kind of skim against when flying in the Linking (controlling their ships by flying them like a giant ship-shaped mech lol) and cross through directly when planeshifting (outright teleporting). Gods, demons, and dragons live in the spirit realm natively.

Cyrna has a spirit realm which humans kind of skim against when flying in the Linking (controlling their ships by flying them like a giant ship-shaped mech lol) and cross through directly when planeshifting (outright teleporting). Gods, demons, and dragons live in the spirit realm natively.
There's a Black woman on Instagram whose reels I watch sometimes who talks very openly about the quick judgement calls she makes around how white women present ourselves to try and guess whether we're safe to be around or not

I was perhaps unfairly annoyed at her 2025 Grammy's Speech -- despite very legitimate grievances about the industry! -- because she'd been all huffy about endorsing anyone, and now that the country is being torn apart piecemeal, her main thing was to go "Won't someone please think of the pop stars!"

idk sometimes I'm crotchety and middle aged and everything she does annoys me like the "bitch eating crackers" meme and other times I think she just wasn't really prepared for what fame would be like and doesn't like having to act a certain way for her audience and i feel kinda bad for her

Not to mention Mythbusters in our teens and 20s! I know the later seasons devolved into "how big an explosion can we make" but you can almost see a distinct line in society where mythbusters went off the air and people stopped believing in science
