Good morning from the harbor seal factory!

We got several working harbor seal families ready to challenge the establishment!

Here you can see a mother teaching their baby about the union.

Get em started young!

Because they're filmed in the same place and I think Tom Cashman and Paul Williams look a little bit alike I can NEVER remember off the top of my head whether a given Taskmaster AU/NZ episode was AU or NZ

Weirdly feeling like I lost an integral part of myself when I released Broken Sky (almost four years ago!) because that story existed part-formed in my head for more than half my life at that point, and now I can't just restart Broken Sky from scratch out of boredom like I did for much of my 20s

More than two decades of Lilo and Stitch existing and I never realized that these two are not the same person with/without makeup

There are some things that really do require a certain amount of class privilege to be able to afford to do the "ethical" version, like buying organic food for instance. However, choosing not to use AI is, in fact, free.

Absolutely fascinating how both leftists and conservatives seem to consider Reddit a biased echo chamber favoring the other side

if we're going to really split hairs, the earliest surviving story we know about that could be construed as sci-fi is the legend of Daedelus and Icarus

I suppose it's heartening to see guys with very obvious AI profile pictures starting to decide AI sucks actually because they can no longer afford their video game devices

Being fully aware that I've written such a plot myself, I keep encountering books where the main character's allegedly dead parent is -- surprise! -- still alive and also maybe evil or at best morally gray. I really never thought about what a common trope in fiction that is.

I think people on here maybe don't realize that Jeff Bezos hasn't been directly involved with Amazon for several years. He's still a dipshit, and the new is an even bigger dipshit if you can believe it, but it's important that people realize they're off being dipshits separately

This is great news! Part of the reason I've been hesitant to use Bookshop in the past is lack of books by indie authors but looks like they've just made it way easier for us to be on there

was reading that ICE agents used to be unionized but they dissolved the union because it was "gay commie bullshit" (their words not mine) and now they're complaining about long work hours and shitty conditions. lol, lmao even

"But the normie shitlib moms--"

Ah, there it is.

Anarchist leftists don't be openly misogynist and use a legitimate movement as platform for your complaints about your own mother for five minutes challenge: impossible

Me, young(er) and naive, playing Darkest Dungeon 2 and watching my party of damaged heroes collapsing in a stress spiral and turning on one another while facing down an eldritch world-threatening: "wow, how unrealistic, can't they prioritize SAVING THE WORLD?!"

Me, older, now: "Oh."

It grinds my gears that Neil Gaiman can assault as many people as he wants and still have a new book coming out, while marginalized authors say one kinda tone deaf thing at a con once and lose their entire careers over it

looking at alternatives for cloud storage besides icloud and onedrive and dropbox and someone is like "Here's this software where you can host your own server" and I'm like "That is a lot of effort to miss the point, if I have to keep the data in my house I'll just buy an external hard drive"

I'm gonna give it more time but I'm sadly not sure if I'm vibing with Clair Obscur Expedition 33, there's just so many tiny quality of life annoyances, like the inability to save whenever, and the fact that there's no mini-map for the individual areas so I keep getting turned around and backtracking

Finally I've accomplished something in life, one of my suggestions was the top upvoted option in one of those dumb Reddit alignment chart fill things

I'll only watch the Melania movie if it's like the Weird Al biopic where she bangs Madonna and gets killed by drug lords at the end
February 2, 2026 at 7:42 PM
honestly I don't think Trump would care that much if ICE dragged Melania away except in as much that it might make him look bad to his base

was reading about how Elián González went on to have a normal happy life in Cuba and he became an engineer and later a successful communist politician and honestly good for him
