Finally read the first issue of Absolute Martian Manhunter, and it was sooooooo good that I feel ashamed for only now just starting it lol. The way it makes readers proactive while they read the comic is one of the many reasons I LOVE LOVE LOVE when comics use the medium to the fullest 😍😍😍

Finally read the first issue of Absolute Martian Manhunter, and it was sooooooo good that I feel ashamed for only now just starting it lol. The way it makes readers proactive while they read the comic is one of the many reasons I LOVE LOVE LOVE when comics use the medium to the fullest 😍😍😍

Barely any illustrations and they’re the same one as the Taiwanese editions. I know bc I found a website a kind fan scanned them onto long ago. giant ass text and lots of spacing to pad it out. Quality is high but they padded it out to make it bigger so they could charge more for nothing

Seven seas entertainment knows how light novel publishing in Japan works, which is why their other light novel titles range from $12-16 a book. Then they do this shit with twelve kingdoms bc they want as much money as possible from desperate fans for as little work as possible. Just bullshit

will say while outside of book looked not that great online it is pretty in person and the print and paper quality are high, but barely any illustrations for such a giant book- bc its all padded out by the giant text and spacing.

Fun comparison- seven seas padded it out so much that their vol 1 of book one is almost same size as tokyopop version of book one v1+2 combined- which is also a lot shorter. Whole book, together, for less than $10. There’s inflation and then there’s just greed.

So I bought 12k seven seas book one volume one (lmao on them splitting this book up like the cheap and small Japanese versions and then charging fucking $20) and yeah rip off. Should have just made it collectors edition with this shit then I wouldn’t be furious about the pricing
