They MASTERED this sort of perverse rhetorical flip during the Biden era I’ll absolutely give them that.
You see it everywhere once you look: “free speech” used to justify crackdowns on speech, attacks on the “elites” used to rationalize regressive economic policies that hurt the poor, etc etc

What’s sad is that the obsession over minor missteps from Dems isnt to serve any higher ideal, it’s just to rationalize and justify GOP abuses of power (“see, everyone does it!”) while scolding anyone who names them plainly.

They come off as so weak and reactive, which I honestly think the median voter they’re trying to appeal to hates so much more than the actual substance of left wing policy/moral values.

The fanatics did, definitely. I think many less engaged, low-info supporters are insulated to the point they couldn’t conceptualize what the state violence they voted for would actually look like (so ppl trying to tell them came off hysterical)

I get it, but the desperation to find and cling to anything, no matter how absurd, that absolves them of the behavior of their party’s decade-long leader is disturbing…
