It's just sham systems propped up by obsession, causing deeply unwell people to become demonstrably worse.

It doesn't even rise to our least fearsome science fiction imaginings.

Everybody copped Perfect Blue so hard and no wonder. This movie is so brilliantly structured. Even 25 years later when I know exactly what’s happening , it is still a harrowing watch.

Finally: AI cannot do your job, but an AI salesman can 100% convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job, and when the bubble bursts, the money-hemorrhaging "foundation models" will be shut off and we'll lose the AI that can't do your job, and you will be long gone, retrained or retired or "discouraged" and out of the labor market, and no one will do your job.
AI is the asbestos we are shoveling into the walls of our society and our descendants will be digging it out for generations:

YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle the lawsuit brought by President Trump against the company for suspending his account.

Most of the funds will go towards the fund the president setup for the White House ballroom.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Travelled to VA to clear out my storage unit. Finally.

Got everything I'm keeping into these crates. Some stuff thrown out, some stuff donated, some stuff given to friends. I kept WAY too much.

Now, after the crates arrive, I'll be able to put my studio back together 100%. : )
