🌊 Oxygen Minimum Zone Chlorophyll Maximums 🌊

🚀🛰️🦠When the upper boundary of an OMZ approaches the euphotic depth in stratified regions, an OMZ-chlorophyll maximum can form at depths of 68-160m in extremely low-light and low oxygen.🚀🛰️🦠

Frontiers | Monitoring low-oxygen-adapted subsurface phytoplankton distribution in a changing ocean
Recent decadal trends of deoxygenation in the global ocean interior have resulted in the expansion and shoaling of oxygen minimum zones (OMZs). When the OMZs...

“We survive on collecting and selling the seafood, but we are also protecting them. We show how humans and nature can coexist.”

#Freediving for food is the most selective fishing method there is. It's challenging & time-consuming, but rewarding.
Amazing story from South Korean freediving culture🌊🦑

🌊 🧪 🛰️ A very interesting read on estimating stocks of chl-a in the #euphoticzone using #satellite #remotesensing, with a look at the relationship between surface and column-integrated chl-a. 🛰️ 🧪 🌊

The RAPID-MOCHA-WBTS time series of the Atlantic overturning circulation will soon reach 20 years (started in 2004) thanks to the many people (crew, officers, students and researchers) who have participated in the research expeditions that regularly maintain the observing array.
