Had a nice Islay single malt last night then woke up to be given slippers for Christmas, while I watched my child untune the guitar I'd carefully tuned for her. My dad's spirit truly lives on in me.

I spent two years doing a 'Graphics' GCSE, learning to do processes which phones now do in seconds with about one touch

Sorting letters and parcels by hand in a Royal Mail depot to be sent around the country to the point where I didn't need to think about it because my brain knew which pigeonhole or bin each postcode went into.

Scotland being drawn against Ireland for the third rugby world cup in a row has really taken a lot of excitement out of it. It'd be nice to have our hopes crushed by someone new, for a change.

I've started running around the Holyrood Park high road every week or two. It reopens to traffic at 9:30 3 days a week, meaning me and the other runners/dog walkers have to hop onto the pavement... but I've never seen a car actually go round at that time? Why does it have to open so early?

Niche chat and all anecdotal, but I grew up in Cumbria around the time of the fox hunting ban and it was quite a fierce divide/debate at times. Yesterday the police arrested some illegal fox hunters and the comments on Facebook are entirely aggressively against the "hunters".

So much of this article spoke to me. We do Junior Parkrun. We always finish near the end, but my 4yo never cares. She doesn't care about PBs. I've learned so much about parenting her, and running more generally.

She was five when I first took her to a junior parkrun and I was amazed at her attitude and ability. After a lifetime of seeing exercise as punishment, I could suddenly appreciate it
