THREAD: There’s a dire situation in Vietnam, at the largest Agent Orange spill in the country.

When Trump and Marco Rubio cancelled foreign aid, froze funding and began dismantling USAID, those who were cleaning up the Bien Hoa air base had to halt work. 1/

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

I had the privilege of talking to @apnews.com about WIRED's Elon Musk and politics coverage.

Most important thing: We're not slowing down, we're not stopping, and we're going to cover this story, relentlessly, for as long as we need to.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

One danger of embracing generative AI as a learning device and in language assistance is that you're letting the keepers of that AI have power over what you learn and how you write. It will be programmed with biases, unintentional but often *quite* intentional, that you will unknowingly adopt.

When you see these displays in your public library, write a note to the branch manager and director thanking them for supporting queer rights. Speak up at board meetings. I guarantee that library is already getting complaints. Admin/the board will cave to whoever is loudest, even bigots.
While the current administration attempts to eradicate us, remember that the library will continue to be a safe space for Trans and GNC folks. We're not going anywhere 📚

No, Democrats aren't going to save us.

Conflating voting with activism has led to the myth that voting is the ONLY activism.

It's not.

We save ourselves - with protests, with mutual aid, with community, with refusal to comply in advance, with organizing, with litigation, with direct action.

Yesterday, I made a post about modern day Evangelical Christians and their hypocrisy. I compared them to the Pharisees in the Bible. It seems that I should have just called them hypocrites, and not Pharisees, due to its use by anti-Semites. Thanks to @irishgeek79.bsky.social for the education.
My challenge to Americans in 2025, stop fucking referring to the GOP as Pharisees. The Pharisees were not the bad guys—that was later Xtian propaganda 🐂💩 Modern day Jews are descendants of Pharisees and we treat folks way better than most American evangelicals.

bsky.app/profile/iris...
Please do not use the word “Pharisee” when you mean “hypocrite”. The Pharisees are the predecessors of Rabbinic Judaism. Literally every Jew today is a Pharisee—our entire tradition survived the fall of the 2nd Temple bc of the Pharisees. /1
