>what's in it for China?

The EU could, among other things, lift the ban on selling ASML's EUV equipment to China.

I'd also like to add that, despite all their public displays of friendship, the Russians seem perfectly aware that China poses a serious threat to them.

I agree that it might be the least bad option. China does seem like a much lesser threat to Europe than Russia or, recently, the US. China will need strong incentives to agree to a defence pact like the one you describe, but the EU certainly has much more to offer China than Russia does.

What Europe needs is a federal EU, an EU army and EU nukes, and English as a second (or third, or fourth, etc.) official language in all member states.

During the Cold War the United States military had 15,000 soldiers stationed in Greenland. That presence has been reduced by 99% to just 150 soldiers today.

Denmark has given the US exclusive and full military access to Greenland but the US does not use it. This has nothing to do with security.

Whining about youth in general is an old-time tradition.

At this point, I'm not sure an invasion of Canada would spark anything other than angry social media posts.

It's kind of ironic, given that Plato himself advocated the censorship of poets like Homer in The Republic because he feared their stories would "corrupt" the youth.

All the usual suspects are probably going, 'We've given all our equipment to Ukraine, and here's the result!'
January 6, 2026 at 5:43 PM
It all looks increasingly farcical.

Brilliant headline.

9/ Until you push back and demonstrate real consequences for crossing red lines, you will remain an object in Trump’s thinking, not a subject. Deterrence is the only language leaders with authoritarian mindset understand.

It's clear that the Russians haven't been properly informed that America is exceptional.

It would have been better if they had just kept quiet instead of this ongoing embarrassment.

I'd rather not have any of this garbage in my consumer tech.

Denmark is about to experience what Ukraine experienced in 2014, when no one moved a finger to help it.
