So between my charger almost catching on fire, my upcoming internet and phone bill, I need to raise a little more. I have a good chunk of what I need but if I can raise $80 that would be a load off my mind. Thank you, shares and donations are both huge help

Hi, I have spent literally the very last of my money on rent. If you can help me survive to the end of the month with a share or donation, I would be very grateful. Thank you so much.

Chilling insight by @barbarafwalter.com: "Once citizens view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this… They’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns."

via www.nytimes.com/2025/10/07/o...
Screenshot from a NYT article by Thomas Edsall, quoting Barbara Walter of UC-San Diego: "The quickest way to piss people off is to send soldiers into their neighborhoods especially when there’s no reason for them to be there. It’s inherently provocative, and Trump and his team understand this. Research by the political scientist Robert Pape shows that the single most powerful predictor of suicide terrorism is the presence of foreign troops on local soil. People hate, hate, hate that. They hate the humiliation, the powerlessness, the feeling of being occupied.

"Once citizens begin to view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this. In fact, that’s the point. They are not trying to restore order; they’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns. In the end, violence serves their ultimate end: They want to create the illusion of disorder so they can tighten control and stay in power indefinitely."

Also, the way to not "die on that hill" is to be united. These folks who want to jettison trans folks, immigrants, Black folks, etc. are so short sighted they think it'd be a victory to die a couple steps later, when choosing solidarity is actually choosing to not die at all

If you are willing to throw away entire groups of people to protect your insular strategy that will only protect you instead of protecting everyone then I don’t want your leaders and I sure as hell don’t want to be associated with you.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

they don’t want you to know how they treat prisoners because it will grieve you to know it, which is natural and human, and because of your normal human reaction you will want the system changed. It’s important to them that your natural aversion to how the system works not be engaged.

The absolutely tragic evidence that the blogging era of feminism was a catastrophic failure is that there is no specifically feminist movement pressure to be applied right now on literally ANY of the surveillance, kidnapping, incarceration, shooting, forced pregnancies of women/girls.

"but spotify makes it easy to find new music"

Ask your friends, co-workers, bluesky/discord mutuals for recs.

Yes, it's more effort than just whacking on a radio playlist on spotify but the experience is better.

D.C. did away with the death penalty 44 years ago, but the president says he's bringing it back.

What does that actually mean for the people of D.C.? @maustermuhle.bsky.social reports:

Bari Weiss is set to be named the editor in chief of CBS News, the New York Post reports
Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days — giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.

Weiss — a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent — is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.

Far-right Catholics freaking out about the Pope doing normal Pope things will always be entertaining.

The Pope blessed some water? Can you even imagine?
Matt Walsh: Horrific. The whole thing. Pope Leo blesses a block of ice and then stands there while these communist freaks do some kind of weird pagan Earth worshipping hippy ritual. The leader of the Catholic Church shouldn’t be anywhere near this nonsense. What the hell are we doing here

Val and I checked repeatedly because we simply couldn't believe no national or local news organizations covered this letter from 18 AGs in support of trans youth care and against FTC overreach.

If you find any stories, let us know, but it seems to be our exclusive.
assignedmedia.org
On Friday 18 blue state attorneys general BLASTED the Federal Trade Commission, telling it to back off trans youth healthcare and warning of an insidious attempt to reshape the regulation of medicine in the US.

And nobody covered it.
