The difference it makes is to the survivors.
As a survivor myself, someone saying that someone had sex with me at age 3 is abhorrent.
No, I was sexually assaulted. That's it.

Right. The CSAM term is to place the abuse at the center. But it's not a term which has reached mainstream use or knowledge.
Which is why I do think using the other terms and them immediately explaining that's what CSAM is still has use from a

CSAM is what gets used a lot in investigative documents and among activists (NCMEC uses it). But yes they still use the other terminology because of it's known meaning yes.
The adoption of CSAM is meant to both emphasize it's inherent abusiveness and reduce stigma on legal porn.

"Porn" is consensual and professional. CSAM stands for "Child Sexual Abuse Material" to emphasize that it's always non-consenual and by definition abusive.

To a lot of people the statemrnt "Grok creates CSAM" will read as a "tech headline" they bypass.
"Grok creates child porn" is a much more visceral statement that will grab someone's attention and THEN you can explain why we don't use that term anymore.
