BREAKING: Mysterious prototype video game found in Alamogordo landfill, experts baffled: "Don't blame this one on me," - Former Atari programmer Howard Scott Warshaw

13. Selena

came into it without much frame of reference for her music, came out sad as fuck :(

the only rip on our usual Very Legit Media Site was a lifetime channel recording tho so idk how much TV editing there was to it.

12. Popeye (Atari 2600)

Surprisingly solid port of the Nintendo arcade game. the funniest thing about it to me is that the weird hi res character sprites/low res background graphics in the arcade one mean that the 2600's chunky backgrounds are closer to accurate than you'd expect

11. The Quest

after Old Man Van Damme fucks up some 1982 punk dudes in the beginning it kinda gets mostly like a more boring version of Bloodsport that lacks most of what made that movie actually fun to watch. this feels like something someone's dad would be fuckin obsessed with tho.

Unrelated but looking for screenshots of dark castle just reminded me how amazing early Mac games looked, unreasonably sick aesthetic

Lrt if anything in games is an artform in itself, it is the utterly esoteric, yet thought provoking text that developers put on walls and billboards.

True poetry.

Alternatively, grab some scotch one sided laminate, label paper and print or draw stuff and then xacto it out!!!!!

It might not be as durable as proper vinyl (no idea if any of these have bled super bad from being outside tbh) but making handmade ones to give to people feels cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. Bloodsport

Somehow this may have actually been stupider than Street Fighter!

Fight scenes and the soundtrack are sick ofc but everything surrounding is just so damn silly, and the real world context of the alleged "true story" certainly doesn't help. Prob an amazing watch in an altered state

10. Street Fighter: The Movie

Second watch in >a month or so (between watching with friends and the gf) and it's still just borderline incomprehensible in such fun yet frustrating ways

Raul Julia is still the obvious best part of the movie but Himbo Zangief grew on me a lot the second watch lol.

9. Word Munchers (Apple II)

Super cute and enjoyable little edutainment game from MECC (the Oregon Trail devs!) While obviously it's not gonna be a huge brainbender for adult players, the pronunciations of words they expect you to match might catch you off guard (especially if you're not american)

8. Dig Dug (Atari 7800)

It is Dig Dug. It is a good port. There is barely anything to say here that wouldn't apply to any other version of the game, aside from maybe that the pleasantly chunky 7800 pixel art aesthetic endears it to me a lot more than other home console versions

7. The Tale of the Bunny Picnic

In terms of Henson one-off specials Emmett Otter is still a lot better, but this was cute enough and it's always fun to see the massive group shots of about 20 Muppets all moving at once in anything.

Especially when they are all bunnies.

these last two!!!!!!! these last TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the 50 of each block one is also kinda rng bs but kinda just needs a careful marathon sesh to get)

important news: kitten kaboodle (konami, 1988) has Good Serviceworker Furries in it

6. Kitten Kaboodle/Nyan Nyan Panic (Arcade)

overlooked this game trawling through mame stuff before and only now gave it a try. super wild and fun pengo-like but also kind of bs sometimes. mainly the penguin-kun wars type bonus levels that straight up take a life if you lose lol

hell yeah brother

5. Mouse Trap (Atari 2600)

really fun and adds welcome strategy to typical pac-likes what with being able to save powerups and tweak the maze. the cat AI is brainless tho, it takes a lot of the difficulty away once you notice the patterns.

also certified Exidy Game Loving Sicko here for the record
January 4, 2026 at 11:46 PM
4. Snoopy and the Red Baron (Atari 2600)

gets kinda repetitive and could use a few extra nuances to the gameplay (tho it is a kid-oriented game after all), but enjoyably twitchy and fast to play. super good late-era 2600 graphics with little to no flicker like the best activision games too.
