Not being attached to convention culture from the start would probably lead to what we consider as "furry activities" being just as different. Ofc, cons would likely still pop up eventually, but would it literally just be like, house shows and hangouts?

The entire accepted "common style" of anthro art (which is already in flux a lot and hard to sometimes define to be fair) could look and feel entirely different and that alone would make where the community would be now probably unrecognizable

As cool as a lot of the early lore of furry culture and its roots in sci-fi fandom and underground comix is, it's such an intriguing thing to sit and consider how things would have been different if it started as a subculture within or adjacent to a different type of scene
