Reading a book of Bill Bryson essays from the 90's: it bothers me that he wrote about things that are still big today: anti-environmentalism, anti-immigrant rhetoric, etc. It's been almost 30 years and we still suffer from the same wounds.

Being in tech support, it amazes me me how people constantly delay the resolution of their problems because they would rather vent at some stranger and marinate in their rage about something not working.

I know the US is on fire, politically and socially, but wtf. After spending all night driving a variety of interstates, I am convinced that there is a place on this land, a plague of drivers not turning off their brights, even when they're right behind you.

As we get to the point where at least some Trump voters are - presumably - realizing they made the wrong choice, let's not forget that cruelty towards others is a big part of why Trump won. Those who are against Trump should not engage in that same cruelty.

I remember back in the Obama days, when they were first introducing "ObamaCare," watching some old white lady yell at her congressman. Specifically, she yelled "Get your government hands off my Medicaid." Hoping MAGA wakes up to the truth abt Trump is not a winning strategy.

Karl Rove, during the reign of Bush 2, said "We're an empire now. We make our own reality." Iirc, this was because a journalist called him out for making false statements. I fear the GOP has actually internalized this. Combine that with the unending lies coming from FOX and you have mass psychosis

We are very obviously being gamed by the ruling elite, so I will do my best not to laugh at MAGA in their future struggles as they realize Trump isn't their guy. At the end of the day, the elite wants us to turn on each other, and it takes neither brains nor imagination to guess why.

Sometimes I forget that Trump only happened because a significant portion of the US population shit their pants at the idea of a Black person in the White House, whether that be Obama or Kamala.

I work in a tech support job, answering the phone, troubleshooting, etc. It occurs to me that it would be, technically, a nice thing to tell the people who call "I hope I never speak to you again."
I don't think HR would see it that way, tho.

I just came back to the office life (no hashtag) after wandering in fields of master's degrees and service jobs. It seems the norm for people to include pictures of themselves in their email profiles. I have to say that I think that makes it easier for people to transmit negative energy at you.

I really enjoy listening to learned people of the occult discuss magical theory. It doesn't really reflect on my spiritual reality, which is more abt listening to spirits than people, and the spirits are more abt daily pragmatic stuff at least at this point for me. But I do love a good chat.

No disrespect to the Olympics, but there is only one Winter Game, and that is "Allergies or Cold?" All competitors must be able produce large amounts of bodily fluids flowing from their face orifices at inopportune times.

As someone who is interested in the religion and mythology of different cultures and historical periods, I find that following the threads of wisdom usually leads to the concept of "Don't be a dick."
