Got interviewed about my fall class on Teen Film for this :)
Executives at Walt Disney studios are asking Hollywood creatives for movies aimed at teen boys, according to recent reporting in Variety. On one hand, this is hilarious, writes Nina Metz.

On the other hand, teen films as a genre are a casualty of the changing business model brought on by streaming.
Column: Teen movies used to be a genre Hollywood took seriously, young audiences too. But good luck finding them in theaters today.
From “Rebel Without a Cause” to the many films of John Hughes, teen movies are a fascinating segment of cinema history.

Going to keep saying: a society that wants to keep functioning needs to discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities
Kids today are learning that the fastest and easiest way to make money—the key value that has been modeled to them in America society—is to scam others, cheat your way through, and attract negative attention online that can be monetized. My endless sympathy to parents

We have this one a little twisted. Totally reasonable.

But, folks have been pushing for this category for several years. Believe it or not, the idea is that traditional country would favor more women, people of color who are often pushed out of country and into Americana/folk country.
