This thread is getting more Gothic by the hour. All because when I was 18 months old I got into a corral with a 600-pound boar hog (with tusks) who slashed my forehead open and left a hole in my temple.
Tangling with killer hogs seems to be a much more common experience than I thought.

Of course I do. In fact, I rarely think of anything else.

That sounds like a story from a Thomas Pynchon novel.
We had a farmer neighbour who had a heart attack in the pig sty and became chow for the hogs which added my the "hogs in my bed" nightmares I had for years.

They aren't pretty critters to have gnawing on you.

Not for nothing are they called "weekend warriors."

The rest of the week, they eat.

I miss the days when he would deliver a 3-minute lecture on hockey to the coach under the guise of asking a question - preferably at the post-game press conference when everyone was on a tight deadline.

I grew up going to Zabar's. So many of my childhood memories center around the best lox in NYC (which is saying something). With Saul Zabar's passing today, the Upper West Side has lost a legend who turned his parent's humble store into a culinary institution.

Thank you Sarah. Unfortunately I have a hole in the head where the brains got out.

I have a big head but...

Stephen Miller stands truth on its head. Truth is always the precise opposite of any statement he makes.

Understand what they are doing: using the massive power of the state - including military power and the power to imprison - to carry out a campaign to eliminate their political opposition.

It's growing in seriousness by the hour.

He had tusks or I would have won.
Lucky my father vaulted the fence and got me out before I could become pig food.

But it makes bacon taste better.

I have a 20-stitch scar on my forehead left by a boar hog when I was 18 months old.

The scar agrees with you.

I pretty much support everything HuGo have done since they took over - but if there's a real blunder lurking, I fear it will be the Noah Dobson deal.

They gave Heineman and 2 picks and made the guy their highest paid player but Patrick Roy is smart as a whip and if he wanted the guy...

They would have refused. Today's wannabes have zero integrity.

Watching a WW2 documentary called Hell On Earth at a time when the president of the United States is doing his level best TO INFLICT THAT HELL ON HIS OWN COUNTRY is enough to turn your stomach, because the enemy 80+ years ago is now the enemy within.

I can remember when being a sports fan meant, "holy wow! Did you see that goal?"
Now you have to be a chartered accountant just to follow the sport.

Snicker time:
@jacktodd.bsky.social in today's Montreal Gazette slipped this in. Not everyone will appreciate the humour. 😄

"Congratulations to Patrice Brisebois on his election as president of the Canadiens' Alumni Association. With Brisebois in charge, association meetings should breeze by."

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

It will take as long as it takes. Hughes in the one with the experience negotiating contracts and he knows how to make both sides happy.
